Happy Monday everyone!
This past week has been a rough one. We're still slow at work, because it's not tax season, and trying to get my crap together since vacation has been a struggle. And I feel very behind on my half marathon training because I was gone so much last month. But... I went shopping this weekend (not for retail therapy, I legit needed some new fall/winter outfits for work). I wasn't dressing super cute to work the past week or so, which I've said on IG before - your outfit doesn't have to be Pinterest worthy every single day. But I've ALSO said before - dressing cute makes you feel better. So I'm trying that this week, hoping to better my bad attitude!
So here we go:
This was the outfit I used when I said on IG in my stories that not every single outfit needs to be Pinterest worthy. Some days you wake up late, you don't feel like it, you're too busy to lay out your clothes the night before - it happens!!
This work outfit is a Liz Claiborne shirt, and also pants (I love Liz Claiborne dress pants because they offer petite!), my shoes are Tom's, and I wore my hair in the high pony because it's getting long enough to do that again!
---By the way, side note, speaking of my hair -- should I let it grow out again?? I kind of miss my long hair!
Another work outfit. I normally don't wear leggings to work - I feel like in my profession, they're not professional enough. This is one outfit I make an exception, because: 1. these are real pants, they're not thin leggings, they are from Fabletics. 2. this shirt is long enough in the front and as you can see, it drapes down even longer in the back - therefore not showing off my booty in my office. I wear a camisole under this top (that was a gift, I'm sorry I think it's from JCPenney but I'm not sure). It's all very comfy and cozy. And I dressed it up with a Lia Sophia necklace. As usual, my shoes are Tom's.
I don't always dress up, everyone. Let's be real. If you know me in real life - I wear work clothes, then workout clothes, very few in between outfits. This was for Spencer's (Ashley's hubs) birthday dinner. I had already gone to the gym, we were going with a lot of our gym people, so this was the best I could do for that night. This was the same day as the legging/gray shirt outfit above, so these are the same Fabletics pants I wore to work that day (not my sweaty gym clothes, I at least changed out of those), and an MSU shirt (because Go Bears). Same Calbeing workout headbands I wear to the gym everyday (set of 5 on Amazon for $16.99). My shoes are Adidas -- LOVE these shoes, wear them all the time, they have the Cloudfoam!
This was my Friday's girl night outfit. We don't always go super fancy, just casually cute. My tank is army green (sorry for the bad lighting) from Old Navy, I have it knotted up in the front because it's the swing tank, so it's a little long. My plaid shirt is Kenneth Cole, from TJ Maxx - I've had this for a few years and it's too tight to button it, so I usually wear it open like this. My jeans are super comfy, high rise GAP from a consignment shop in town called #FashionExchange. And again, always Tom's for my shoes, these are glittery gold.
Here is Sunday's outfit for church and also one of the outfits I wore for my mom to take a few Fall pictures of me, to go on my MBA graduation announcements. Boots are Nine West on clearance at Marshall's. Jeans are from a consignment shop, #FamilyFashions in Poplar Bluff, for only $6, and they fit so well. Sweater is also from Marshall's, only $19.99. My earrings (I wear all the time, but I don't know that I've ever said) they are from Charming Charlie.
So, Amelia and I discussed the 'pants in the boots tuck' on Friday. I normally roll my pants up a little to be above the booties, like you're supposed to, however, I am short (so is Amelia), and we've decided it looks dumb when we have to roll our pants up like 4 times to make them above our booties. So, you'll see us with the tuck. Some Pinterest outfit inspiration ladies do this too, but usually it's "wrong." Oh well.
I also want to say that I know I don't always give you guys the name of all the brands of my clothes - 1. because sometimes I forget to look before I do these posts for you 2. because these outfits are for inspiration, not for just straight up copying me - which if you do, I would feel honored - however, it's hard to find the exact same thing if I always get my clothes at TJ Maxx, Marshall's, or a consignment shop, or as LJ has posted about before, we buy on clearance a lot.
I want to inspire outfits, inspire you to wear clothes already in your closets. I'm not out here every single week buying tons of new clothes to give you guys content - would love to, but I'm not, because hello that would be expensive. If I don't do that, then why would I expect you to?? We are about Perfecting the Balance, balancing finances with work, with extracurriculars, and with fashion (and other stuff). You can have cute, stylish outfits without breaking the bank.
We want to show you what we wear to give you ideas. Add or subtract anything you want to these styling ideas. We would even love to hear your tips and tricks for your daily wardrobe. I usually wear jewelry, but not all the time - add it! I love wearing headbands but sometimes I forget about them for work outfits - add them! Change up the shoes! Do whatever YOU want to make the outfit comfortable and cute for you. Everyone has their own style. Do you.
Love,
Christine
