Spring/Summer Casual Outfits

Long time no see! For my first post in awhile, I'm going to compile some of my recent casual outfits for you. I worked from home for a couple months during Covid, so there wasn't very many to share with you until recently.

Latest girls night this weekend - lucky enough to get a group picture for once. Left to center: LJ's shorts are from American Eagle, and her top is a tank from Old Navy. My shoes are SO Authentic American Heritage brand from Kohl's, pants are from the Buckle (KanCan mid-rise ankle skinny fit), halter top is Old Navy. Amelia's wearing green Old Navy linen pants (see the blue/white striped ones below), and top is also repeated below, from American Eagle, the bungee strap halter tank.

When LJ and I were taking some of our most recent outfit pictures, we were discussing two main things we wanted to share with you all:

  1. We want to stress the fact that we don't expect you all to go out and buy everything that we share with you - that's not our motive. We just want to give you outfit inspiration, and you can use items similar to ours, that you already have in your closet to create your own style.

  2. Not to underestimate the power of "plain" tees, tanks, etc. We have so many plain color/neutral staple items that you can dress up or dress down (many ideas featured below). We will do something more in-depth on that soon, but don't worry if you have tons of those in your closet - mix it up and match them with something different next time - different colored pants, a bold necklace, tennis shoes instead of flats; try something out! And be on the lookout for a post giving more tips on that.

This outfit was first Girls Night out after the restaurants in town opened up after quarantine. The bralette and pink sweater (thin, lightweight, crop sweater) are both wonderful items that Ashley sent to us from her boutique (You can DM her for orders and more details). The jeans are American Eagle and I wore black sandals from Target. This was a great outfit for Spring-ish weather. It was May when I wore it, but it was a cool day.

This outfit was for a bonfire - plain cream colored long sleeve from Cynthia Rowley, black puff vest is Love Tree from a local boutique, and American Eagle jeans, paired with Birkenstocks. Kaylin had a cute graphic tee layered with a plaid button up shirt.

Comfy cozy! New Balance low-profile tennis shoes, Fabletics yoga pants, black bralette from Ashley's boutique, long sleeve from Lucky Brand (this is super lightweight, but almost a fleece material).

Casual errand running outfit- Calvin Klein shorts (like Nike tempo shorts, but with pockets!), Victoria's Secret PINK tshirt, plain black hat from Amazon (Dalix brand).

Kaylin and I were having a lazy wine-drinking quarantined day...Fabletics yoga pants, Golden Peach tee from Ashley's boutique (comfort colors btw), headband is from Amazon (knotted, multi-colored pack of 10).

This is one of my favorite outfits, and not to flex but I was featured on American Eagle's website with this photo :) [#AExME]

So, obviously American Eagle shorts (90s boyfriend style), Lucky Brand wrap sandals (on clearance for Black Friday), tank and kimono from Ashley's boutique. I wore this for the Jaycee's Crawfish Boil, it was perfect for outside Spring-like weather. The kimono has a tie but I had to make some alterations to hem it since I'm so short, and didn't use the tie this time.

Mother's Day outfit -also the first Sunday back to church since quarantine... wedges are repeat from above-SO brand from Kohl's (got these off of Poshmark though), swing dress (one of many colors that will be included in the 'plain items in your closet' post) is Auselily brand from Amazon, kimono from Poshmark, necklaces are both from Charming Charlie.

First 'concert' out of quarantine! A little chilly for May, so surprisingly needed long sleeves. This sweater is borrowed from Amelia, so I don't know the brand but it is a comfy, slouchy, one shouldered cream sweater, the black pants with cute tears are from Ashley's boutique, and the booties are Universal Thread from Target. Earrings are from Charming Charlie. (P.S. shoutout to Matt for making it into the best picture of my outfit I had all night).

Here we go with another plain tank, this time tied and matched with a bralette (from Ashley's boutique), and jeans from Banana Republic. This tank is from Old Navy, earrings are Lisa Sophia.

Another girls night outfit: mustard swing dress is A New Day brand from Target, and the same Lucky Brand wrap sandals I wore for the crawfish boil.

July 4th outfit! (I may be getting out of date order) Calvin Klein tempo shorts again, btw I got these at Sam's Club. Bralette from Amazon, Yianna brand (removable padding). American flag tank is from Future Female Leaders - if you've never checked out their social media or website, I encourage you to do so -LJ and I both have their apparel and they re-post us almost everytime we share our FFL OOTD with them. They also have good political information/articles, and great book recommendations, to name a few things.

Sunday church outfits - me (on the left): rose gold Mad Love sandals from Target, Old Navy linen pants (watch for new outfits coming with different colors of these same pants), Old Navy tank, Lia Sophia earrings. Amelia (on the right): leopard flats are Universal Thread from Target, black tank is from Ashley's boutique, white cardigan is A New Day brand from Target.

Beach outfits! My sandals are oldies but goodies from Payless ShoeSource (Montego Bay Club brand), shorts are a soft, lightweight courdaroy from American Eagle, crop top is Persun brand from Amazon.

These sandals and pants are repeats from earlier - rose gold Mad Love sandals from Target, black ripped jeans/jeggings from Ashley's boutique. My top I've had forever, but one of my favorites, Katherine Barclay brand from TJ Maxx. (P.S. this was a silly Snapchat photo, not an actual outfit picture, but it turned out to be the best one, so here we are).

Probably should save this one for the 'plain items in your closet' post, but oh well... my sandals are repeats, from Payless. Shorts are new from American Eagle (mom style fit), tank is plain fitted from Old Navy. I'll let LJ comment on where her outfit was from (I think her leopard shorts are also AE).

Another church outfit - belt is from Target (3 pack of pink, black, beige), Old Navy plain black tank (repeat), kimono from Poshmark. These jeans are from a consignment shop, but they are SO brand from Kohl's.

This one is a sneak peak - I haven't actually worn it yet, this was just an option for a concert next week....but both shorts and top are American Eagle. The top is Soft & Sexy bungee strap tank and the shorts are blue/white paperbag Mom fit.

That sums up what I have for you for now! LJ will be coming in hot soon with another outfit post, and I am starting my next one for you -- we did a photo shoot last night for some ideas with going back to school and work.

Love,

Christine
