I think it’s easy for some people to place blame on other aspects when they are not first hand going through this disease. We have hundreds of thousands of doctors and nurses around the US and the world that are BEGGING us to be as careful as possible so we do not catch this virus. They are first hand witnessing the problems that this virus is causing. And yet, some are choosing to ignore that and trying to place blame on - oh, it wasn’t really the virus - they died because they were old and it was their time; it wasn’t really the virus, they died because they had underlying conditions and the doctors are just reporting it as the virus; it wasn’t the virus, the ventilators are actually not good for them and are killing them, etc. etc.
It reminds me of what I’ve been reading in my New Testament journey from the YouVersion app.
Jesus is performing all of these miracles. He’s doing them every day, even on the Sabbath. And all of the Pharisees are mad because he is performing miracles on the Sabbath and it is “against the law” to do anything on the Sabbath. They are claiming that He could not be the Messiah because the true Messiah would not perform miracles on the Sabbath.
Like - what?? Are we serious right now? Jesus is making a blind man see. THE BLIND MAN CAN SEE. Could YOU have made that happen in any way on any other day anyways? We know medicine in that day in age is no where near what it is now. He is performing great miracles and you’re claiming he is not the Son of God because he healed a man on the Sabbath.
I am just flabbergasted on how these people had Jesus right in front of them, and yet they found ridiculous reasons to deny him. I guess I just don’t understand how that even makes sense.
But this is what brings me back to what’s happening today - we have people fighting this first hand, but we would rather deny what’s going on and find false reasons besides what the doctors are saying. What for? I don’t know.
I guess my hope with this post is to ask everyone to stop down playing the seriousness of this virus. Stop looking at death numbers as “numbers” and realize that there are people, humans, family members, that are making up those numbers. Show some compassion and do your part. Don’t continue to spread false information which is giving false “hope” (if that’s what you want to call it) to people who just believe whatever they read on the internet.
Wouldn’t you rather believe that we overreacted when this is all over with than believe that more should have been done?
Yours,
Ashley
